The Technical Communication Program in the College of Engineering at UW-Madison is currently undertaking research on approaches to teaching ethics and, in Nathan Jung‘s case, generative AI. For the latter work on AI, Jung is looking at field research on how students use the technology, and/or how the technology is being used in workplaces. Jung is also assessing the pedagogical effectiveness of AI for tasks like topic invention and addressing the impact of AI on “writing anxiety” in tasks like drafting. Any opportunities to collaborate across disciplines and learn from those with experience doing research with human participants are welcome!
