The CTRW, in collaboration with the Wisconsin Exchange, will host panelists Mike Wagner, Michelle Schwarze, and Percival Matthews in a discussion on how writing serves as a means of deliberation that helps achieve civil dialogue and embrace diversity of viewpoints. These goals are consistent with the mission of the Wisconsin Exchange, which aims to put “pluralism into practice” by “fostering vigorous discourse.” 

Mike Wagner is the Director of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication; the William T. Evjue Distinguished Chair for the Wisconsin Idea; and the Director of the Center for Communication and Civic Renewal. He holds a PhD in Political Science from Indiana University, Bloomington.  

Michelle Schwarze is an Associate Professor of Political Science and holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of California-Davis.

Percival Matthews is an Associate Dean for the Office of the Dean and Professor in the Human Development Area. Matthews is also an Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Psychology and holds a degree in Psychology from Vanderbilt University.
