A politically and culturally polarized country; ongoing wars in Ukraine and Gaza; lingering concerns about covid; upheaval in the federal government causing uncertainty about the project of higher education. It’s an anxious time to be teacher, let alone a teacher of writing, and the mental health of instructors and of students is at top of mind amidst all of the chaos and violence. The speakers on this panel, all talented teachers and scholars of writing, will address the ways that writing can serve as a means to address the challenges facing our students and ourselves.
